Position Summary:

The Application Developer is responsible for developing and implementing proprietary content and applications into new and existing applications within the company.  The person must work closely with other departments, peers and/or third-party vendors as needed to gather requirements to perform any system design, integration, testing, debugging, and development.  The developer must understand SDLC and project management, and should be well versed in various programming/web technologies. The developer should have a passion or coding and problem solving; enjoy a team-oriented and open-architecture environment; and take an interest in mentoring junior developers.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop application or integration tools for the company’s internal production systems or applications
  • Work with end-users to analyze the existing business workflow and to document the requirements
  • Analyze existing business workflows and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Work with Project Managers or other key managers to test and to implement the enhancements and developed applications
  • Provide detailed documentation on the entire design, code, and any third-party tool sets
  • Resolve complex business issues or business requirements
  • Develop solutions to automate or to streamline business processes
  • Create projects and devise plans to improve and maintain high morale within the division

 

Qualifications:

  • B.S. Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a developer
  • Experience with the following technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, C++, C#, Visual Studio, .NET, and Visual Basic
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and relational database technologies/concepts
  • Experience developing departmental coding standards and documentation
  • Experience using code versioning systems such as SVN or GIT
  • Experience with legacy systems such as Lotus Notes and SharePoint 2003
  • Basic understanding of SDLC and project management methodologies
  • Experience gathering business requirements independently
  • Interest in mentoring junior developers
  • Ability to communicate application and technical concepts clearly to end-users
  • May be required to be on call 24/7 on an as needed basis
