Hey Matt,
You have some company here in Tech Hui. Kat is a great illustrator (she did all the pirates and ninjas on the facebook app I showed you) and Chris is a graphic designer.

One interesting improvement is the big move to widgets and integrated web UIs. I just setup a Tech Hui Photo widget that works in facebook. It displays a slide show of recent tech hui submissions on my facebook page. The Ning application automatically generated the code for me using a wizard. Cool stuff.
I definitely have to try developing a custom feature for Tech Hui.
BTW - If you have any cool UI examples, even just ideas or peices you want to share feel free to upload them.
